What is H1 Tag?

The top-level heading on a page — typically the page title that appears most prominently to readers and search engines.

H1 is the most important heading on a page. Conventionally there's one H1 per page describing the primary subject, followed by H2s for major sections and H3s for subsections — like an outline. SEO impact has decreased over time (modern Google can identify the primary topic without strict H1 use), but a good H1 still helps readers, screen readers, and search snippet generation. InBuild's AI generates one H1 per page (the hero heading) and uses H2 for section headings — the canonical structure.
